     Speaker: ...loves the German public, as she herself said in a 1959 interview here in Frankfurt:

     Callas: I do know your public, and  I do wish so much to sing well because you're worth every bit of my energy.

     Speaker: I know your public, and it is my greatest wish to sing well, and I will give everything to your public.
