     DEMOCRACIA: "Bellini’s Norma was presented at the Colón".

     [...] This came to pass because of a hierarchy of proven artists and an orchestra realizing even the minute details of the score.
     Maria Callas in the title role gave a brilliant demonstration of her abilities. Her vocal portrayal was touched with passion, and her stage presence and gestures had great elegance. Fedora Barbieri was a magnificent singer and sure of herself as usual. Her Adalgisa rose to a remarkable level. [...] Nicola Rossi-Lemeni revealed, yet again, his great qualities as an actor and singer. [...]
     Maestro Tullio Serafin conducted the orchestra with his usual authority, and produced a level of playing most suited to Bellini’s score. J.F.
