LA RAZÓN: "The opera Norma was applauded in the Teatro Colón".

[...] There were objections to the version of two years ago; however last night’s performance presented two artists of great merit: the soprano Maria Callas and the bass Nicola Rossi-Lemeni. Maria Callas, who possesses a particularly seductive voice in its delicate moments, displayed splendor and intelligence, ardor and passion: she was not a Norma concerned with a particular sound, but gave life to a woman who was alternately proud, loving, pained, and gave the role a direct eloquence. Nicola Rossi-Lemeni demonstrated that he possesses a real flair for drama, was perfect as a humane Oroveso, impressed with great merit, and was a generous and persuasive performer.
The mezzo-soprano Fedora Barbieri (Adalgisa) and the tenor Antonio Vela (Pollione) were both well equipped for their roles, as is well-known. Their performances brought us back to the happy days of old. [...] The chorus was excellent as was the orchestra under the imperious baton of Tullio Serafin, who conducted a warm and clean performance for wich he was generously awarded with applause. [...]
